blessings over childrenAnd God is able to make every grace overflow to you, so that in every way, always having everything you need, you may excel in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8

Author of Hank the Cow Dog, John Erickson, shared a reflection on the driving force to continue writing four hours a day for 15 years with very little to show for the effort. “At age 5 my mom told me I had a God given gift for storytelling. When you are 5 and it is your mom, you are inclined to believe her.” He went on to share how her words impacted him to continue when he wanted to quit.

Someone has said that when a blessing was given to someone in the Bible, it was always a spoken blessing. Words have the power to shape our lives for good or for harm. Most of us can remember a family member, teacher, coach or even a friend that shared a sentence or two that gave you the encouragement to follow a certain path.

I want to introduce you to Monday Mantra. For the next several months, Mondays will be days for focusing on blessings. We will explore some blessings contained throughout the Bible as well as some verses that we can use to speak a blessing over ourselves or others.  I am a firm believer that Christians should experts at speaking life into our situations and over our acquaintances.

Read todays verse again. Take a moment to memorize it. Think about your own life and how the verse can shape your thinking.  Many of us point continuously to the abundance of things that we DON’T have. We fail to miss the many things that God has already provided for us. These blessings of things are for you and the opportunity for you to share with others.

So, I ask that God would bless you and I today with everything necessary to excel in good works prepared for us beforehand.  You are gifted to be a blessing and to be blessed.

Blessings Love Y’all
