stumbling blockWoe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come! Matthew 18:7 NIV

Sin in this world breaks my heart. My own sin breaks my heart, but the sin that affects little children is just rough. The following is a a conversation that I overheard from small children on the bus that I drive.

I picked up a few kids for an elementary school. 6-8 year olds

One boy, “I’m going to grow up and be big.”

Girl, “like how old?”

“I’m going to be 25.”

“Not if you get shot down by a drive by!”

“That ain’t gonna happen to me.” He then starts to quote a rap song by YNW Melly called Murder on my Mind

Wake up in the morning, I got murder on my mind

AK-47’s, MAC – 11, Glocks, and nines. I got murder on my mind

He then repeats the refrain…”I got murder on my mind, I’ve got murder on my mind.”

We turn toward the school. Another child says, “I am afraid to go to school”.

As they exit the bus….I speak to the children, “think about life…choose life.”

They glance back and exit towards school.

How will these children survive if they don’t establish a relationship with Jesus?

I continue to drive a bus, because it reveals the need. My prayers seem feeble against such terrible situations that theses kids face. Their pain is so real and close to me it affects my heart into a praying position and action.

What situations move you to prayer? I am not talking about an issue that is uncomfortable so that it makes you complain. What do you care about so much that it drives you to your knees to reveal how desperate you are for God to intervene. For some it is jail ministry, effects of drug addiction, care for our elderly, child pornography, human trafficking, or possibly abortion.

Make sure that when you get to heaven, your hands are wet and dirty from engaging in a solution of a yucky problem. May there also be a long list in heaven of recorded prayers from you beseeching God to intervene with grace and mercy for those trapped in their sins. God can do anything he wants, but He invites us to ask him for the freedom of others.

Bless You today. Love y’all
