th (59)Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop—some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.” Mark 4:20

Good seed + Good Soil = abundant harvest. May you be blessed with a heart, ears and desire to hear the seed of God’s word in your life.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus explains the problem with the seed falling on the path, rocky soil, and among the thorns to his disciples. It’s clear how our heart can be unprepared to receive the seed. Devil takes it away quickly from out thoughts, to shallow a response to let it mature, or cares of our world choke out the the effectiveness of the seed. Does He explain how to prepare the heart for good soil production? I believe in Mark 4, He adds three more illustrations to reveal how a productive heart interacts with the good seed.

Let’s look at the first illustration today

He said to them, “Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don’t you put it on its stand? 22 For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open. 23 If anyone has ears to hear, let them hear.” “Consider carefully what you hear,” he continued. “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you—and even more. 25 Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.” Mark 4:21-25 NIV

Filter what you hear by making faith response top priority. Jesus said a lamp is brought into the house to give light, not to remain hidden. This is directly related to the action of hearing and faith response. The measure or faith action that you use in response to what you hear from God speaking to you (the seed) will determine its fruitfulness.

When God’s word is revealed to you, you can make it a high priority and let it shine for all to see. Even if it the word makes you have to deal with hidden things in your life, let the light perform its purpose. Others can easily see if the light is on in your house or if it is dimly lit. The way you respond to the light of the seed that is given will determine the impact it has in your heart.

The faith-action is the measure that you use in filtering the word. More comes to those who give the appropriate faith response to the seed. Lack of response will diminish the effectiveness of the seed.

If God asks you to share that Jesus loves someone and you do it, your hearing for evangelism goes up. If you ignore the impression, your sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit diminishes. If God asks you to forgive someone, and you choose not to do it, the freedom to flow with the Holy Spirit diminishes.

Be blessed today with placing the high priority of displaying God’s words to you with the appropriate faith-action that is required. Let others see the light of God’s word in your life through your faith obedience to what you are hearing from God.
