sheep and shepherdThe Lord is my Shepherd Psalm 23:1 NIV

During one of my Chinese men Bible Studies, I was asked. “Why does God refer to us as sheep, why didn’t he choose another animal?” I responded, “What other animal would you choose?”

Sheep live a lifetime in need of someone to care for their physical needs and for protection. They never “mature” beyond those basic needs. Today they will need a shepherd, tomorrow they will need a shepherd and the next day and so on and so on. It never ends. The shepherd must always be there for the sheep. That is what Jesus does for us….He is always present in the role of Shepherd.

You are never alone as a child of God. Today, right now, during the silence and darkness of your pain, He is present.

You may feel isolated, directionaless, fatigued from trying with little results. He is there.

You may sense immense loneliness from rejection of others and the fruit of failing to meet the expectations of perfection. Your shepherd is still with you. He will never, ever, leave you nor forsake you.

Even when you feel you have exhausted all the grace that He could provide for your own stubborn and self-willed actions. His provision of a “well of love and acceptance” flows overwhelmingly toward you.

How do you daily experience the Lord as your Shepherd? Let Him do His job. Then enjoy relating to Him with love and thanks.

Blessings. Love y’all
