ogres onionsPeople may be pure in their own eyes, but the LORD examines their motives. Proverbs 16:2 NLT
Shrek: Ogres are like onions.

 Donkey: They stink?

Shrek: Yes. No.

Donkey: Oh, they make you cry.

Shrek: No.

Donkey: Oh, you leave em out in the sun, they get all brown, start sproutin’ little white hairs.

Shrek: No. Layers. Onions have layers. Ogres have layers. Onions have layers. You get it? We both have layers.

Donkey: Oh, you both have layers. Oh. You know, not everybody like onions. From Shrek the Movie

We all know it’s true that we see ourselves differently than others see us. For the most part we have a high view of our actions. Just listen to our excuses…”all I did was say hello, what is her problem?”, “mam, are you listening? I told you three times I want a diet Dr. Pepper.”

Guys, how many times do we receive “hopefully” a gentle rebuke from our spouse…”You don’t realize how rough you sound.” There are times when a strong direct order is needed, but God will help us to determine the layer of motives behind our frustration.

Here is the grace moment for today’s thought. Our heavenly Father knows all of our hidden motives and chooses to love us still.  Love covers a multitude of “layers”. Can we extend love to others when the worse things are revealed about them? Including those closest to us? Jesus did for us!

Blessings Love y’all.
