Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment. Luke 23:56 NIV
We cooked for his band, He ate and then smiled
We followed him across the land, He slept on the ground
We listened to his teaching, it was nourishment to our souls
Now, All we can do is rest
He performed many miracles, ours are part of His story
He taught we great authority, we willingly submitted.
He claimed to be God in the flesh, we saw no reason to doubt
Now, ALL we can do is rest
We cried out our prayers in hope, He prayed with intimacy
We listened to his gentle voice, our spirits came alive
We washed his feet, He praised us openly
Now, ALL we can do is rest
We watched him as He died, He cared for His mother
We stayed and wept at the cross, He was separated from His father
We saw the spear and the blood, His died, it’s over
Now, ALL we can do is rest
Why did He have to die on Preparation Day
We have so much to do for Him
The law – God’s way – requires NO work on the Sabbath
Now, ALL we can do is rest
We sit in our grief, wishing He was here
Our hearts are overwhelmed, His comfort absent
We women supported His work, He still needs our spices
Today we rest, Tomorrow…
