Just listening to some of the conversations on my bus right now as Halloween approaches.
“Is Chucky real?” “How would you kill Chucky?” “He is not real, is he” “He can’t be killed” “What are you dressing up to be on halloween” “An evil person” “Which one” “Jason, cause I can kill people” How would you respond?
Life and death is real for some of these kids as gunshots are fired through their homes. There is enough real time fear, why do we promote it? The ones talking about Chucky (an evil little boy doll that kills people with a knife) are a kindergarteners and first graders.
My heart is heavy for these kids. They need peace. They need salvation. We all need salvation. We are spiritually dead people trying to manage life as though we were alive. We need Jesus!
The gospel has to be shared with these children. The trajectory of their lives without an intervention of new birth with Jesus is a train wreck waiting to happen. Education is so important, but it can not replace the power of transformation of sins being forgiven and being loved unconditionally.
I find myself praying the circle prayer of evangelism. God draw a circle around this young child and Holy Spirit I invite you to begin to soften their hearts to hunger to receive salvation of their souls. If no one else is praying, today I am asking that you bring people into their lives to give a clear presentation of reconciling their relationship with God through Jesus.
On the Fear Not Friday, grab God’s hand in your time of trial and fear. On this Fear Not Friday pray for children to know how and where to find God’s hand to help them in times of fear.
