Let’s see what we can glean from this story about Lot, as we continue to consider the issue of a hardened heart. The word “hesitate” can be translated “linger”, “to question”, or “be reluctant”. Lot was stuck between moving to salvation (his city was about to be destroyed) and his “old life”.
Maybe you know someone who has heard the good news of Jesus and seem so close to making a decision. Perhaps they like the Biblical stories and the good life that you share that’s available to them. But they still do not move. They really can’t comprehend what life will look like in the future for them. They may say things like, “I’m just not ready” or “It’s just not the right time.”
Let us grab the Bible and appeal to God in prayer on behalf of our friend using this verse from God. Sometimes people need someone to “grab their hand” to help them get to safety. So beseech the Lord Jesus to show incredible mercy and help this individual. Your prayers may be the “extended hand” that helps them take the next step of faith toward Jesus.
Blessings. Love y’all.
