If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11 NIV
Más! Más! Más! I continued to pray these words over a man in Columbia who had come forward for prayer. Más is Spanish for the word “more”. I understand that I have limited Spanish vocabulary, but I was praying what appeared to be communicating to the gentleman’s need. Somehow I knew that I was praying in agreement with God’s word, which makes sense after reading this verse.
As a parent you understand the challenge and joy of giving gifts to your children. Perhaps, after giving a gift, you remember your heart melting as your child looks you in the eye and gives you a smile that is half grin and half laughter. The look of sheer joy in a child’s face is very hard to capture in words, but the heart grasps it.. Then the love in our heart moves us to give them more. More good gifts, more of ourselves, and more of our love. This experience touches us deeply causing a stirring in our heart.
This same is true when our child is experiencing pain. Our love wants to take “more” of their pain away from them. A cry of pain is far different than the child crying for not getting their way. Parents, with a weightiness, understand the limitation and frustration of not being able to help their child “more”.
BUT GOD, OUR FATHER, is far MORE than we are. He wants us to be free so much, that His son, Jesus, died in our place. He has gifts for us the moment we become followers. There is also “more” each day…for the mercies of the Lord are new EVERY morning! He is MORE than good in the way that He expresses His love.
May you continually live, breathe and ASK for Más! Más! Más! He told us to ask from a Father of “more”.
Blessings. Love y’all
