Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding. Proverbs 2:2 NIV
TUNE IN NEXT WEEK… SAME BAT TIME… SAME BAT CHANNEL.. I don’t know why, but as a child I looked forward to watching Batman as the Caped Crusaders defeated the bad guys. I remembered the station and the time of day. I just had to be at the TV set.
Solomon knows that God has provided wisdom and understanding in vast quantities for us. However, most are not “tuned in” to the right frequency. If it was as easy as switching a dial, we would make the adjustment. How do we stay “tuned in” to wisdom?
First, it is intentional. We have to be looking for it. Ask God for a hungry heart…not just to know more…but to know more of His ways. Just a desire to know more is not necessarily looking for wisdom. Solomon says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So, we have to be intentional to look for wisdom from God, from whom all blessings flow.
Secondly, reduce the clutter. Before digital signaling, there were radio waves. A bad signal included lots of static in which we would quit listening to the station if we could not get it resolved. We have so much competing information on our thinking bandwidth, the wisdom of God gets overshadowed. Right now, just try control your thoughts for one minute. Seriously, set a timer and focus on the love of God for one minute. If you noticed distractions, that is the kind of stuff that drowns out our pursuit of God.
Lastly, read, memorize and meditate on God’s word. It is the easiest way to compare our thoughts to the thoughts of God. Being saturated with His word, keeps our thoughts “tuned in”. Happy listening.
Blessings Love y’all.
