When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the town until he reached Caesarea. Acts 8:39-40 NIV

When you are preaching, on a mission trip, or an evangelistic outreach then you are somewhat prepared for a witnessing opportunity. Are you prepared for the everyday meetings with people? I met a freshman in college late one evening. The conversation turned toward eternal destiny. He and I were both Christians. He was so excited to have this conversation with me. When I inquired about his excitement, he responded “I asked God to give me a person to share about Jesus everyday. This day was almost over. Then God let me find you and share about my life and love for Jesus.” We became good friends.

In this passage we see Philip being directed to go to the desert to speak to one man about the message of Jesus. Then he is whisked away to preach the gospel in another city. Don’t lose the principle working of the Holy Spirit with the sensationalism of appearing in another city.

  • Everyday trust Jesus’ words that the harvest is plentiful. There is ripe fruit all around. Believe that there are people that the Holy Spirit has prepared to receive your message.
  • Ask for the awareness of the directing influence of the Holy Spirit. Too often, I am slow to the need that is right in front of me. Later, I see the opening that was available in certain phrases.
  • Have good transition questions available. Philip simply asked the Eunuch if he understood what he was reading. Questions open the doorway so that you have the right to share your thoughts.

Lost people are in the Spirit’s heart and mind all of the time. He wants to use you to reach others. Take a moment each day to ask for His leading. He desire to use those who are available. Maybe today you will have the privilege to share with someone the wonderful message of Jesus.

Blessings Love y’all.
