Monday Mantra – Blessing – Be Fruitful
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Gen 1:28 NKJV
Julie Andrews character in Sound of Music sang one of the most loved songs called Do-Re-Mi. Her first line is very important for us in today’s verse regarding blessing. “Let’s start at the very beginning, A very good place to start…”
God’s first action after creating mankind was to bless them. He showed all of the cards that He was holding in reference to His intentions for Adam and Eve. He blessed them. He wants good for them and desires a good future for them. He has that same purpose and desire for you. Maybe you don’t think He likes you that much…not true. He wants you to be blessed and to know that purpose for your life intimately.
God’s first recorded word for Adam and Eve – “Be fruitful”. Like the rest of creation, people are expected to be fruitful. This includes reproduction of the human race, but it is also so much more. He wants you to enjoy a full, meaningful, and overflowing life.
As you begin your work week on this Monday, why don’t you take a moment to reflect on God’s desire for you to be fruitful.
Character development – Staying connected to the Holy Spirit will produce fruit of love, joy, kindness, gentleness and self-control. Ask God to help you continue to grow in these fruits. You are already blessed to possess these as yours. Which fruit of the Spirit do you want to see increased blessing in your life? Ask God to multiply it.
Being a Giver – Jesus said, Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Luke 6:38 NIV. You are blessed to be a giver – this is not just money, but also your life. There is an expectation that you will grow in your fruitfulness of being a greater giver than you were last year. What limitations keep you from being an abundant cheerful giver? God will provide seed to the sower.
Your Unique Talents – God spoke blessing amid the creation experience. He then claimed that He made mankind in His image. Blessing and creativity fit very well together. You are blessed to offer your creative talents. You are not defined only by your job, although you are blessed to bring life to your workplace. You have been specially gifted by the Holy Spirit to express your spiritual gift for the building up of the body of Christ. Each one ministers their gifting as God has given the measure of grace to express it. Share it meaningfully. Do you know the spiritual gift bent that God has placed in you for His body? Ask God to bless you to exercise those gifts in greater measure.
What images come to your mind when you think about God speaking directly to you to be blessed and be fruitful? God loves to bless His children and see them being fruitful. Start your Monday knowing that you are blessed and fruitful.
Blessings Love y’all
