Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:9 NIV
Repeat after me, I heard you say
Listen closely and get it right
Your words guide my path
There’s wisdom to keep in sight
I’ve learned a thing or two
By watching you night and day
Line upon line, building my character
Observing your rhythms and your way
If you want me to truly learn it
Show me once or maybe twice
Tell me when I do it correctly
Instruct me, that would be nice
Knowing what I am supposed to do
Is the first step that I need
Moving toward putting it into practice
That’s a greater goal for me, indeed
Putting into action what is right and true
I’m willing, but it’s really hard to do
Let a teachable spirit reside in me
Change my old ways and make them into new
Peace from God is real for the having
In genuineness and honesty it thrives
No hypocrisy between what I am and what I do
With God’s grace and guidance, I’ll survive
