The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
The sad story is told of the man who lived his whole life struggling with having enough basic necessities. People had helped him at various times, but could not understand why things didn’t work out for this man. He worked hard and appeared to be diligent. Upon his death, they found a whole box of checks that were never deposited. The man never learned the value of those papers. If only he had learned the importance of making a deposit, he would have had what he needed.
God’s love toward us is limitless as well as the abundance of His mercies toward us. There are new and fresh supplies of mercy added every day due to the faithful actions of our heavenly Father. Those supplies will amount to missed opportunities when we get to heaven if we fail to make “regular deposits” of their value.
What are the requirements to step into the abundance of God’s mercy?
God’s mercy is for broken people.
The healthy, self-sufficient, prideful, arrogant, or hard-hearted need not apply.
- For those who have messed up again (for the uncountable number of times), mercy is for you.
- For those who have lost hope thinking everyone has counted you off, jump into mercy from your loving Father.
- For those whose tomorrow is more bleak than the troubles of today, there is a red carpet of mercy for your next step.
- For those who are weighed down with the cares of life so that your arms can not even be lifted up to receive help, let mercy drench you as the fresh fallen rain,
- For the one who feel the most disqualified, mercy knows your name and is calling to you to come inside.
Mercy is given to those who ask.
God extends a general kindness to all people. He rains on the just and the unjust. He is God and can express His goodness to whomever He wishes to bless. He doesn’t need our permission to show His love. He doesn’t wait for us to agree with His actions. It’s God kindness that leads people to repentance.
BUT, God loves when we call out to Him for help. God answers the prayer of the contrite. When the desperation of your heart and the cry of your mouth are in agreement with your pain and acknowledgement of need, you’ve entered the throne room of God’s grace. Ask humbly for His help, with no stipulations. You just ask for HIm to come.
Mercy is given to those who receive it by faith
Faith is the evidence of things unseen. You may not physically see God’s mercy coming to you, nor will you hear that it has arrived. You will however, sense the peace that companies mercy. Pray through until you can acknowledge the peace and presence of Jesus. This Prince of Peace extends mercy and has authority to lead. He will remain with you as you walk out your need for mercy.
Mercy is not a vending machine answer to your problem. Mercy is the aroma and salve of the presence of Jesus. He draws near to the brokenhearted. Drink from the well of life for your need.
On this Monday Mantra, there are new mercies available for you today. Drink from the well of living water for the parched need of your soul. Don’t pass mercy off to someone who you think is in greater need. God’s mercy is for you.
Blessings, Love y’all
