If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5 NLT

You have not, because you ask not. Some blessings are provided but never secured, because we fail to ask.

Why is asking for help so hard?

Pride and independence within ourselves slows the asking process down. We wait to exhaust all of our own efforts and thinking. The old self life does not want to be dependent upon anyone for help. The sooner we recognize our strong willed resistance, the sooner we position ourselves to believe the promise and blessing of receiving wisdom.

Insecurity from past attempts that left us feeling as if we missed it. You prayed for wisdom to make a right decision and nothing appeared to happen. Now, someone like me says that you need to continue to pray and you want to do it, but you are unsure if it will really work for you. Faith grows incrementally. Start by asking and responding to smaller situations. Watch how God works. David gained strength from killing a bear and a lion before walking up to Goliath. Ask God to help you remember the His provision that He has provided along the way.

Some fail to ask because we don’t like being in a place of need. Someone has said, “Don’t give up on the brink of a miracle”, and this is true. But who wants to live on the brink? God wants to bless with wisdom, we must first realize the desperate need for it. To be in a place of need is to expose our frailty. God loves us and desires to cover our needy situation with his wholeness. Relationship anticipates providing for one another.

Wisdom is first received with alignment of our need to His Word. What does God’s word speak to us about the decision that we need to make? Then we make the adjustment to the Word of God revealed for our need. Also, the Holy Spirit grants wisdom by leading us and guiding us into all truth. Learn to discern what His voice sounds like and follow His lead.

There is a blessing and promise of obtaining wisdom when we ask. He does not belittle or rebuke us for asking. May you learn the cadence of asking for wisdom from your Heavenly Father who loves you.

Blessings Love y’all
