Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded;
surely there is a God who judges the earth.” Psalm 58:11 NIV
There is none righteous, no not one. All have turned aside to follow their wicked and sinful hearts. Adam and Eve chose the path of selfishness instead of dependence, They experienced the fruit of that choice enduring the murder of their son Abel by his brother Cain. The world is full of broken people ( I mean all people) who hurt one another.
Prayers for mercy are one of the reasons I withhold immediate judgment. Abraham prayed for Sodom and Gomorrah for Me to extend mercy and not destroy the city. I honored his prayers and withdrew the righteous whose very presence was keeping total destruction at bay.
Moses interceded on behalf of the rebellious children of Israel. I had redeemed them, delivered them from slavery, showed many miracles and let them walk through the Red Sea on dry ground, but still their hard hearts wanted to follow after other gods. I was ready to destroy them all and start over with Moses. But he prayed for mercy.
I judge all as guilty and falling short of My glorious standard. Only My son, Jesus, lived and walked uprightly in perfection. My verdict at His death, He alone was righteous. He purchased life everlasting with His sacrificial death.
For those who choose to lay down their lives and accept My son as their Lord and Savior, His righteousness is now placed upon them. They are given a robe of HIs righteousness. I see My Son’s righteousness resting upon them and I am pleased. My judgment is sure and right.
The world is full of broken, mean and hateful people who need to be introduced to My Son. I hear your prayers for your son, daughter, the wayward, the lost, the politician, the neighbors, your country and the world. Let’s talk about mercy, forgiveness and judgment. Let’s extend mercy a little longer, before My final judgment.
