Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, Ephesians 5:15 NLT

Recently I asked a person if they saw a FB post, then I remembered that many people are doing social media fast during the month of January. Whether you have been fasting  media, food, or change in exercise, most people are coming to the end of that time commitment. What’s next?

That last question captures the idea that Paul was encouraging people to do in Ephesians 5:15 when he wrote that we should look carefully at how we are living. My goal this morning is to help you change the “to do“statement into a “prayer blessing” statement.

Keeping the phrase as another “to do” helps for the beginning of introspection, but quickly adds on weight. Changing it to a “prayer blessing” moves it from what someone else expects for you to do, to an ownership motivation.

Let me illustrate what this same phrase sounds like in a “prayer blessing”.

Father God, You are an awesome God. Your ways are always higher than my ways. Your thoughts are higher than mine. Your word tells me to inspect my words and actions so that I live as a wise person. Today, I thank you that I have the mind of Christ. Thank you that the Holy Spirit leads me to live moment by moment as a wise person.
I invite you to speak to my heart about any adjustments that I need to make. Help me change. Forgive me when I am stubborn and slow to follow Your ways. You have changed my heart with a willing bent toward living in righteousness. Thank you that this is true of me, even when I fail.
Today, right now, Your word says that I have the privilege to live as a wise person. I bless my thoughts, words, activities, commitments, work, study, free time, entertainment, relationships, financial spending to fall into alignment with wise decisions and actions. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Thank you for helping me to correct my path from straying away. I recognize that without You I drift toward following my own selfish desires where life is focused about “what I want for me”.
As a good shepherd, You call me by name and I follow your voice. Thank you for being with me continually. I look forward to our friendship today. I pray all of these things in Jesus' name, Amen.

Only Jesus fulfilled every instruction and expectation necessary to live a holy life before God. IN CHRIST, you have walked into His story. IN HIM, you are blessed to live as a blessing. With men some things seem impossible, but IN JESUS all things are possible.

Every “to do” can now be a blessing that is true of your life. Great things are ahead of you today.

Blessings Love y’all
