From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised. Psalm 113:3

The morning audio was captured on the lawn. The wind can be heard blowing over the mic. Sorry for the interruption in audio clarity, I was hoping to capture the birds.

Awaken The Dawn

One of the life changing impacts from my time as a morning radio announcer for Moody Radio was becoming an early riser for the 6:00 a.m. show.  I set my alarm for 4:15 a.m. The repetition of that early schedule stuck with me  as I started my bus driving although I am thankful it is 5:15 a.m. now.

Today, I am on the porch of my son’s house in Corinth, Ms. The birds are awakening the dawn and ducks are flying northward for spring. The tall grass in the field is waving back and forth like hands extended to the heavens shouting “here am I, remember me.”

Simply Sunday is a time to slow down, take a breath and appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.

Sunrise cares not about the worries of yesterday. The night has put to bed the past offenses and wounds received. Creation awakens as if the first morning has arrived. Jesus tells us to watch the sparrow or look at the lilies of the field. We are to join with the rhythm of creation as it celebrates the dawn of the new day.

“Good morning” can be shared as meaningfully and beautifully as the birds cooing and singing to one another. It’s your voice of welcome which you add to the new day. Share a meaningful “I love you” to your spouse and family. It may frame the happiness factor for their whole day as the sun brings new warmth to the cold night.

There is so much hurt and pain in this world which we both see and experience. The dawn is a time for recalibration. It is a time to invite the acknowledgement of God’s abiding presence to come to the forefront of your thoughts. Let hope arise today for you. As surely as the sun comes up, may God’s love be real for you. It’s a beautiful day in God’s neighborhood.
