I will give them singleness of heart and action, so that they will always fear me and that all will then go well for them and for their children after them. Jeremiah 32:39 NIV
And I will give them one heart and one purpose: to worship me forever, for their own good and for the good of all their descendants. Jeremiah 32:39 NLT
Much of the stress and turmoil in our lives exist within the disconnect between our hearts and minds. Maybe you have heard or even spoken, “My heart is telling me one thing and my mind is telling me another”. The inability to reconcile both has left people to lose sleep, become more anxious or be irritable. Been there, done that!
As Jeremiah is writing these words, the nation of Babylon is laying siege ramps to overthrow the city of Jerusalem. Their destruction is upon them. In this backdrop of doom, God revealed that He is making a New Covenant with His people. He will write His laws on their hearts and minds and forgive their sins.
The centrality of one heart and purpose will be consumed with loving and pleasing God. The rearranging of priorities will be God’s doing. Jesus restated this concept when He encouraged us to love the Lord God with all our heart, mind, body and strength. When this happens for us, there will be a blessing on our own life and for our children after us.
Grab this concept for a moment. Placing God as first in your passions and thoughts, yields blessing on your life and your family. And God is the one who will do the establishment of these priorities. We know the rest of the story that made this possible, it is Jesus.
On this Simply Sunday may you experience fresh and anew God’s promise of one heart and mind. May anxiety and fear be calmed within your spirit. May your clarity of thought settle upon your mind like the dew of the morning. May the peace of God rule and reign over your heart leading to a strong sense of alignment in your heart to the purposes of God. May the boldness of Acts 1:8 be fully realized as you witness for the Lord Jesus. May you experience the blessing of following the narrow path which leads to life and godliness.
For those in Jesus Christ, this promise of one heart and mind is yours for the taking. Let God’s word be true. Let your predicament align with what God’s says is true of you, even if it doesn’t look that way at the moment. May God’s peace and passion consume your heart and your mind.
Blessings Love y’all
