When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a spacious place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies. Psalm 118: 5-7 NIV

The Pressing – Another Whisper

Adam: Why is it so hard to remember that you are always with me?

God: My child, come and sit with Me for a moment. I am with you before, during and after the pressing occurs. Like a vise, the world can squeeze  you from all directions. Darkness and hopelessness surround you giving little signs of hope. For you it appears that only your cries escape through the heaviness of the moment.

God: My Son felt the same hopelessness on the cross as He died in your place. No one rescued Him and I had to remain silent to let the plan unfold. Death can be such a lonely place for a moment. Oh, the look of triumph on His enemies when He arose from the grave.

Adam: I am feeble and frail. I don’t feel I have the strength to endure the pressing. I want to quit, give up, stop trying, and flee the good fight. Are you sure I can handle the weight that remains on my chest?

God: My abiding presence is more than a metaphor for encouragement sake. I am with and within you. I feel the pressure and the pain. I am also the beam to keep all from caving in upon you. I am the the dam holding the turbulent waters at bay. I am the rock creating the strongest foundation for you to stand upon which will never be shaken. I truly am with you.

God: To look, to cry out, to seek Me is to find Me. I bring all that I am within your presence. I renew your strength to face the day. I give boldness to scale your mountain. I let joy bubble up in its refreshing springs along the path of your journey. I bring life to the weary hands and the weak knees. I am always working My plan toward your favor and blessing.  I speak to the darkness and the sun arises to bring you warmth and the light of day. Wisdom and understanding flow in your direction no matter which way you are facing.

Adam: I cannot fathom your goodness to me, but I receive it by faith today. I can’t explain why You have chosen me, but I can sense Your helping presence.

God: Look at Me! You are My child. I will never turn my back on you. I will not treat you as your sins deserve. With Me by your side, your faith grows strong roots in the pressing. Why? Because you learn that I keep My promise to remain with you.

God: I love you. Sit quietly while I sing over you to let your soul be restored. The winter is past even if the cold tries to make you think it is still here. Hear My voice again, as I whisper My love.
