The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
Will you ALWAYS be there? Trust in God’s faithfulness is part of the understanding of the permanency of His presence. God is faithful.
I am not sure if the parsing of this verse is correct, but I saw something different today. The faithfulness of God is identified with His steadfast love and unending mercies. The execution of committed love and the extending of unmerited forgiveness reveal God’s faithfulness.
If you want to focus on God’s covenantal love, that’s wonderful. Steadfast love is one word in Hebrew, Hesed. When God made a covenant with Abraham, He stood in for both sides of the fulfillment of the conditions for Abraham. Hesed is more than a contract of committed love. It would be more like the unseen principle of gravity which is always influencing our lives. God’s committed love never ceases
Mercies are the continual expressions of God’s goodness toward us which never have to be earned. In fact, we can’t earn any of God’s mercy, nor do we deserve it from an entitlement perspective from God. Yet, each day He offers mercy to us again and again.
As I stated, both of the above mentioned committed love and mercy are the identifiers of God’s faithfulness. Most everyone has had relationships in your life in which people have been unfaithful. Maybe they fail to keep their commitments, maybe their promises have not been kept, maybe they did not show up when you needed them, maybe they lied again and again, maybe they did not come through for you like they said they would, or maybe they told you to your face that they are leaving. God is not like that. He is eternally faithful.
He demonstrated the extent of His love and faithfulness, by sending Jesus to die on a cross on our behalf. His faithfulness is forever on display on the cross and in the empty tomb. This historical action has the eternal stamp of God’s love, forgiveness and His faithfulness to us.
God is never a part timer. God does not come and go because of busyness. God’s only favorites are His children born again through the Spirit by those who place their faith in Jesus.
If it is in His word, it is immovably rock solid. On this Monday Mantra, may you cherish once again the “Blessing of God’s faithfulness” to you. His love for you never ceases and His mercies never end. You are loved deeper than you feel and forgiven more than you know. From the rising of the sun to the setting of the same, God’s word stands. Great is His Faithfulness.
Blessings, Love y’all
