Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 136:1 ESV
To what can I compare My “hesed”, My steadfast love, for and over you? How can I help you understand the depth, the height, the width of My commitment to watch over you? I swore an oath to never leave you, nor forsake you. I promise to fulfill My commitment to you.
Recounting how I have loved you in the past and giving thanks is one way for you to begin to see My love. When you see resemblance of your newborn’s features to your own, you have been given a glimpse of the warmth of My smile as I watch over you daily.
When couples cast their gaze toward one another for an extended period of time with no words being spoken, they see the depth of one another’s soul. The capacity to feel love for each other is as vast as the heavens which I made. The love between us knows no bounds.
When you voice your thanksgiving to Me for the good things I have provided, it’s like grabbing a life preserver that pulls you away from the rocks of jadedness and the waves of disappointments.
Appreciation from your lips invites Me to walk with you through the darkest valley, to cradle you in My arms so that I might sing over you, to smile at you, to open wide My heart for My love to bring warmth from the cold cruel world of experiences. Appreciation weaves a close bonding of faithful devotion that we share with one another.
Eternity will never exhaust the newness of My everlasting joy that you experience. That joy is for you to experience now, day by day, and moment by moment.
“O give thanks” is a gift you bring into our relationship. Pause and remember the goodness I provide and the air that you breathe. My “hesed”, lovingkindness, steadfast love, and committed mercy are expressions of the devotion I have willingly engaged with you.
My Son, whom I love, is forever bragging about you, My child. He is asking for My favor and blessing to go before you, rest upon you, and follow you throughout all of your days. So, it shall be.
