Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
Our nearly 100 school buses are linked together with two way radios so that we can communicate with the base, the shop or with one another. As I have mentioned before, I have the privilege to share each morning an encouraging devo which includes a bible verse and a prayer.
One coworker, who was retiring, thanked me for the morning prayers. She said, “I want you to know how meaningful your “bus church” prayers are each morning. They have been very helpful.”
I smiled as I thought, “I get to pray words of encouragement for a “bus church” every morning. These are short prayers.” I mention it is short, because the radio has a timeout at the one minute mark. No long winded preaching is allowed.
One day last week, I noticed a beautiful sunrise with all of the colors as I drove to work. Today’s photo was taken when I go to work. I used that impression and the James 1:17 verse for the following prayer.
Good morning, Our verse today is James 1:17. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Father, we know that every day is a good day, but some days start prettier than others. Thank you for providing such a beautiful sunrise this morning. Thank you for helping us notice that which is good. So Lord, help us today to notice some of our students' new haircuts, help us to see their new shoes, help us to notice when they make wise choices to obey or show kindness to one another. Our Father of lights helps us to see clearly what is right, honorable and true. Help us today to see clearly. Thank you, in Jesus name amen.
I share this today for each one of us to see things from God’s perspective. His truth does not change or shift around like shadows. But sometimes we are too busy to notice the beauty around us – which has been there all the time.
Your spouse loves you, your children are a gift to you, you can read God’s word and hear His voice of love speaking to you. This is more than a glass half full of optimism. Goodness, like God, never changes. May your eyes be opened to see His expressions of love given to you each and every day.
By the way, the sun rises every morning and each day has a beauty of its own. Whether the sun is blocked with dark clouds or it seeps its light through between the silver linings of clouds, the name of the Lord is to be praised from its rising to its setting.
Blessings Love y’all
Beautiful reflections (and photo!), Greg – I take great comfort and hope in the revelation that the God who IS Love never changes –
I just made a new video (as I continue to muse on the thorny “doctrine” of “election”!) – reflecting on what James has to say about Wisdom being “peaceable”…. I was a bit surprised at what I found…
Would love to get your feedback IF you have time…
Blessings!
