Fear Not Friday – Proclaim Protection

The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” Luke 10:17 NIV

In Hollywood movies, men of faith are most often portrayed as cowering before evil. Trembling, they cling to a cross and recite prayers that seem to have little impact against evil. That’s Hollywood and not the Biblical accounts. It’s not an even contest…God is always triumphant. Peace and order come back into place.

There is an authority that we possess as followers of Jesus, as children of God that is exercised when we speak. All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Jesus by the Father. His sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection secured this authority that He grants to those who are His followers. 

As His children we are covered by the blood of Jesus. From that position of cleansing and ownership, we speak with His authority. It’s only by His blood.

Today we commit ourselves to speaking out loud our devotion to Christ and proclaiming our protection against evil forces attacking our home and family.

The following is a prayer offered by the late Derek Prince as a pattern for proclaiming protection over your household.  It is not designed to be read only, but proclaimed. Anyone can speak the prayers, but I am asking that you dads, men of the house, speak these words. As protectors of your home, the enemies’ attacks are relentless. Stand your ground and invite God’s protective hedge over you, your spouse and your children. I have added the italicized words in parentheses because of the influence of digital screens on our families today. Filth comes through those gateways, and it is  more than blatant pornography. Holiness is a choice for me and my house. Exposing and closing access the enemy may use is an equal step toward holiness.

Contending in Prayers Out Loud _ There is something about speaking out loud.

Lord Jesus, I come to you as my Lord and Savior. I confess you as Lord of my life and Lord of my household.

I place the blood of Jesus over every door, every window, (every TV, computer, phones, audio and visual media systems, and literature), and every opening of this home. By the blood of Jesus, I cancel every assignment that has been sent against this house.

Spirit of strife, I name you and I command you to go. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Go.

Spirit of fear, I name you. You were not given to me by God. 2 Timothy 1:7 says so. In the name of Jesus, Go.

Spirit of Oppression, spirit of heaviness, spirit of that gray cloud that settles over my mind and over this house, I name you. Isaiah 61 says the Lord came to give the garment of praise in exchange for the spirit of heaviness. I take the exchange in the name of Jesus, Go.

Spirit of confusion, spirit of slumber, spirit of accusation, spirit of strife, every assignment sent against this family, I cancel this assignment now. You have no legal ground in this household. In the name of Jesus, go now and do not return.

Lord Jesus, I ask you now to seal every door, every window, (every TV, computer, phones, audio and visual media systems, and literature) and every entrance of this home by your blood.

Let the angels take their posts. Let the hedge be restored, the hedge that Job 1:10 describes. The hedge about me, about my house, about all that I have. I claim that hedge in the name of Jesus.

Father, if there is any open door in my life, any unforgiveness I’m holding, any area of sin I’ve not brought before You, I bring it now. I choose to forgive every person who has wronged me or my household. I bless those who have wronged me, and I close the door.

Father, I denounce any generational curse that has operated in my family life. I break its power name in the name of Jesus. Because Galatians  chapter 3 verse 13 says, “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law.” I receive that redemption for myself and for every person under my roof.

I receive freedom now. I receive the peace of God that passes understanding. I receive a sound mind. The torment stops here, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

 On this Fear Not Friday, stand your ground and proclaim Jesus protection for you and your household. As a child of God, the demons must submit to the name of Jesus as you are submitted to Him.
