6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did. 1 Corinthians 10:6 NIVCan we really learn from the past examples of others to keep us from doing the same sinful actions? Paul acknowledges the deception of our heart. Take heed when you think you are strong enough to resist, for you are open to a great fall at that moment.
Father, help us reject the hardness of our heart that occurs from the deception of our own self-sufficiency. Forgive us when we judge others -”that will never happen to me”. Have mercy upon us when fail to acknowledge our taking baby steps in the lusts of our fleshly compromise -”this really isn’t THAT bad” or “others are doing things far worse.”
Father, teach us how to walk humbly before you…moment by moment so that our heart is bent toward obeying you at all times. In Jesus Name. Amen
