If you are looking for “much more” you’ve come to the right chapter. In Romans 5 Paul uses the phrase four times, verses 9,10,15, and 17. Each has a little different meaning, but all use the comparative adverb. This isn’t comparing good stuff, it’s a type of ranking for the better of two options.
Verse 9 picks up the theme from verse 8 that while we were enemies of God, he chose to make us his friend by canceling our debt with Jesus blood as payment. With that backdrop Paul’s says that we can expect to be saved from literally, (the wrath). This is a view of God’s eternal judgment.
Jesus said that he who is forgiven much loves much. The escaping of God’s wrath gains importance in the context of appreciation for Jesus death to bring us in a right relationship with Him. May God stir into remembrance from “whence we came”. May the joy of our salvation grow so much that it consumes our gratitude.
