that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. Philippians 3:9 NIV
I follow God’s law as best as I can
Why do we make such a fuss
I think I look pretty good
Dressed in my own righteousness
I am much better than him or her
If comparison is our measure
I follow the letter to the “t”
My reputation is my treasure
I am in full control of actions
It’s a comfort that suits me well
No one works harder than I
To remove the stench of hell
It’s not up to me, you say
God requires faith to live each day
It’s relationships and not rules
When running in the faith race
Believing in Jesus’ and in Him alone
No room for my works in that space
To live by faith is a stretch
It is in a league of its own
God will get all of the credit
As He brings me safely home
Righteousness that comes from God
Dressed in a robe of white
Obtained totally by trusting in Him
It’s a walk by faith and not by sight
