Christ has freed us so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. Therefore, be firm [in this freedom], and don’t become slaves again. Galatians 5:1 God’s Word Translation
Behold, I make all things new. My Son purchased your freedom with His blood, It is for the benefits of freedom that Jesus has set you free and whom the Son sets free is free indeed. Why then, would you ever decide to be chained again?
You are free, but your choices still carry the weight of consequences. You are free to do all things, but all things don’t produce the same results. Overeating brings a weight of its own. A lie requires continued effort of secrecy. Time misused has drifted downstream from the docks of opportunity. TV, movies and electronics offer an entertainment date vying for your deepest affections, but offering an experience that is full of heartless embraces.
Your choices of thought and action can lead to more freedom or bondage once again. Your freedom is a gift, I give. Don’t try and earn it. Walk in it. Your effort to impress me with trying to be good is a wearisome endeavor for you. Working hard to be good is not the freedom that I give, rather that is a bondage of your old self life trying to maintain control of its own deliverance. The Cross is the dividing line for freedom.
You are free to bless and speak blessing, leave all the judging of others to Me. You are free to be full of joy, it’s not tied to your circumstances, or disappointments. Peace of mind and heart come rushing over to defend those who are walking in the blessing of thankfulness. Gentleness loves everybody and allows you to pour it forth liberally on all occasions.
Freedom and grace are part of the same coin. To continue to walk in the blessings of freedom, you will encounter My grace. Let grace find a welcome home in your humble heart. Grace extends a hand to help you up off the floor and remains with you as you begin to skip again. There is no action or mistake that shuts out My grace to come to those who are broken and contrite in heart.
So, how are you going to live today? How is the bigness of love going to be displayed in your relationships? Who will be the recipient of joy through your forgiving? With whom will you share your merry heart of freedom?
Smile, I love you
