29 What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin[k]? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. 30 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. 31 So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31 NLT

I recently went on a trip to Iowa City and visited LIFE Church. The pastor was teaching a series about knowing God using the book of Job as reference. The week earlier he taught about God’s sovereignty which is important when things occur that are out of our control or when we experience painful events that we don’t understand. Been there and done that.

The sermon I listened to answered the question, “I may understand that God is sovereign, but does He care about my pain?” In one of Job’s discourses, he talked about the animals understanding God and then listed several traits of animals. The pastor then jumped to this passage in Matthew which talked about God’s care for sparrows.

If one sparrow falls to the ground – he is experiencing pain. Jesus tells us that our Father in heaven knows about that sparrows pain. The actual greek phrase says the bird will not fall to the ground “without” Father. The preposition “without” in HELP’s Word studies –Usage: without, without the cooperation (or knowledge) of.

Notice the principle. The bird experiences a painful event, God knows about it. Jesus states that you are worth more than a whole flock of sparrows in which God knows about every sparrows pain. The disciples were to grasp that the same principle for sparrows was true of their lives. When they experience pain, their father in Heaven knows and cares.

He cares about the pain that you are going through. You have not escaped His notice. You have not messed up too bad that He is done with you. He has not stopped listening to your cries for help. He has not disengaged from bringing to completion the good that He has started in your life. Pain in relationships, health, finances, difficult situational challenges all fall underneath the view and care of your Father, God

On the Fear Not Friday, watch the birds today and remember the compassion of your heavenly Father for your life. God cares about you. He is near to your heart. His love for you keeps Him engaged, and that will never change.

Blessings Love y’all
