For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble. Psalm 59:16
I am your rock and your defense. I am with you when you are attacked from all sides and from those who are close to you. I exist in your future day of trouble so that it never catches Me by surprise.
Sometimes your troubles come slowly like the darkness descending at sunset. The light grows dim and you are unsure when your need for guidance actually starts. Lean on My promise of abiding.
Other times your troubles pounce upon you like a silent lion waiting for the exact moment to devour its prey. The anxiety and fear appear to be coming from every direction leading to hopeless stress. Hide under the shelter of My peace in the middle of your storm.
Turn. Slow down your racing thoughts and turn in My direction. Jesus, My son, has walked the path of your hurt and pain for you. His experience of shame, ridicule, anger, betrayal and death form the barrier for your refuge. When you think “no one understands”, He does. His love and forgiveness provide the covering necessary for the sleep of peace.
My abundant mercy has no end. You must step into its water for the full affect. You can always tell the difference when a person was broken and received mercy. The hurting and afraid find a refuge in the middle of brokenness, that the prideful cannot comprehend. My mercy moves through the hurtful experience and comforts the fearful heart.
I am here and I will continue to be a comforting refuge in your future.
