Jimbob’s Armor of God

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit,which is the word of God. The armor of God is real. May God give you the eyes of faith to see how to put it on daily. May He give you the will and courage to use it. Use your mind to meditate on the spiritual reality of the armor’s effectiveness in your daily walk.

Questions to Ponder for wisdom of the armor

• What verses of scripture would strengthen the helmet of salvation?
• How does the helmet protect you when you have willfully sinned?
• How does the belt of truth help you believe God’s promises are true for you?
• What is the correlation between the belt of truth and conviction of sin?
• To whom would the gospel shoes of peace take you to meet?
• Breastplate signifies identity. You are a child of God.
• How do you personally exercise faith on an ongoing basis?
• Jesus combatted Satan with the word of God. He spoke it. When was the last time you battled the enemy quoting God’s word.

The armor of God is more than a child’s song or a Vacation Bible School art project. It’s real. It’s effective. It is supposed to be used for our protection. Stand strong with the full armor of God.
