Melody has joined a 9 ROUND fitness training facility. This  30-minute kickboxing-inspired workout is composed of nine stations with everything from speed bag skills to jumping rope with an emphasis on intense cardio for maximum full body workout. They have a Pulse monitor which records instant heart rate analysis complete with color coded graphs at the end of the training. Moving from stations quickly, trainers who inspire, and the right atmosphere create a fun adrenaline rush that makes you want to come back day after day.

What would you include in your 9 ROUNDS of spiritual exercise?

THANKFULNESS – Express thankfulness for health, family members, physical stuff, for character qualities of God such as patience, love, and forgiveness. Thankfulness is like Teflon coating your heart against the sticky crud of bitterness and unforgiveness. Can you give God a sustained Thankfulness prayer (only giving thanks) for 2 minutes?  Set your timer. Ready…go.

SCRIPTURE READING – The word of God is the main food source for a healthy spiritual body. How many calories are your eating every day? If the amount of time reading would equal quantity of spiritual food on your plate, how many scoops were on your plate today? Variations of reading God’s word would include listening to it being read, reading silently, reading it aloud, meditating on a particular verse, memorizing sections, doing a word study, crafting a biblical character study, mastering doctrinal themes, and/or studying the many attributes of God. You are what you eat! It’s time to take control of your excuses. Fall in love with absorbing the Word of God.

DRESS IN ARMOR OF GOD – Take a moment to get dressed spiritually. Verbally and mentally ask God to help you put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, feet covered with the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the spirit. Read again Ephesians 6:14-17. Can you explain how each part of this armor is used throughout your own personal daily life? When does being a person of truth have an impact in your relationships at home and work? Where is faith being exercised? It will not grow if you don’t use it. Without faith it is impossible to please God. When was the last time your gospel shoes of peace were used to take you to another person who needed to hear that message?

Tomorrow we will add 3 more of the possible Spiritually Fit 9 Rounds.
