Poem in Proverbs – A Wise Woman Builds Her House

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down. Proverbs 14:1 NIV

I’m tired and weary of building my home
Is there someone that can help me
Sometimes I feel like I’m doing it alone
Why can’t others see what I see

With my hands I can create meals
That my whole family enjoys
My clean up never seems to stop
Constantly picking up dolls and toys

A little sleep and a little slumber
Everyone deserves some rest
Don’t sleep when it’s time to work
Help me to know and choose what's best

I know its okay to take time for myself
Recharge, relax and catch my breath again
Thank you Jesus for your words
Please help and guide the work of my hands

Perfection is not the goal I’m after
Never good enough, is a lie
Slow and steady wins the race
Help me Lord, as I try

Grocery shopping, clothes to wash
Forever working on my house, it seems
Children laughing and a happy husband
These images fill my heart and dreams

So God, this day I give myself to You
Take my heart, mind and hands
Prosper and bless the work I do
I trust in your steadfast love and plans
