Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. John 1:16

When I first started driving in the later 70’s we ran out of oil (at least that is what they were saying). That shortage led to higher gas prices and long lines. I got my license and gas was 50 cents a gallon and 6 months later it was $1.00 a gallon. Minimum wage was only $2.30 per hour. You should be able to perceive the stress when the price for a gallon of gas is half of an hours worth of work. We had to ration the gas and you could only buy it 3 days a week while alternating with the other people. Somehow we found more.

John is continuing his thought from verse 14 which says “We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”. It is out of this fullness that John is referring to in verse 16.

The word fullness is plērōmatos which means sum total. One person used this definition – super abundance. It is a constant supply that is always filled and being filled. It will not run out.

Grace is Charis. It means God’s favor that He gives as a gift. Grace from God is always moving toward man, freely extending, or leaning favorable in the direction to bless. It is not a present that you have to find and open. Grace is like the rays of sunshine constantly sharing their warmth with those below.

Two things to grab hold of for today.

  1. There is always more. More grace, more joy, more forgiveness and more love in Christ. His fullness can not be used up, emptied or drained dry. There will be no rationing or standing in line to gain an audience with the King.
  2. Your “situation” did not bust a hole in His supply. There is grace and mercy today, right now for your problem. Right now, Jesus is offering you His love and forgiveness out of the fullness of His grace. Ask and you shall receive His abundance of peace and mercy.

“If you seek Me”, Jesus said, “you will find Me.” Take a moment, settle your heart and receive from the fullness of His grace. Where you have received grace, it positions you to receive even more grace.

God is leaning toward you today to shower you with His favor and blessing. Yes, I am talking to you. God wants you to know that there is more for you to experience out of His abundance.

Blessings Love y’all
