He will rescue the poor when they cry to him; he will help the oppressed, who have no one to defend them. He feels pity for the weak and the needy, and he will rescue them. He will redeem them from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious to him. Long live the king! Psalm 72:12-15a NIV
What type of King did you expect My Son, Jesus to be? Who would the King of the Universe spend His precious time with? What feats of valour would He be famous for? Who would He give an audience to? Who could claim Him as their King? My Son earned His title as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Even the poor can cry out to Him. His ears are listening to those who call out to Him with the faintest of breath. Though they possess nothing of worldly goods, He is inclined to draw near. Your lack of riches or any worldly possessions does not disqualify you from entering His throne room.
He sides with the oppressed. Those who are maligned, tortured, mistreated, undervalued and living under extreme prejudice, He cares for you. He has walked in your shoes of being hated and misunderstood. Even His closest friends deserted Him in His hour of need. Therefore He has promised, and He always keeps His promises, to never ever leave you nor forsake you.
Compassion is not a weakness, but a strength in King Jesus. He is moved to rescue the weak and needy by becoming The Good Shepherd for them. He calls to those lost and wandering sheep by name. He is not too busy, to know your pain and pays attention to your need even of the smallest of detail. This King gives strength to weary and power to the faint so that you may follow Him.
He did not need precious jewels or money to purchase your life. He exchanged His own blood for you. Blood for blood. Death for death. Life for life. Oh, how My heart aches as I reflect on the great exchange. He became your sin and died, so that you could recieve life when He rose again to life.
Though you have nothing to offer Him but your broken and messed up life, approach His throne of grace with boldness. This King, your King, offers you peace and joy. May you accept the invitation to “know” Him intimately as your Lord and Savior.
As one of My children, no longer does He refer to you as servants, but now you are His friends. You are close friends with the King of the Universe, Jesus. Now that is amazing grace on full display for your life. May you live with Him forever and ever.
Whispers from Your Father, God
