God is Happy With Me

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 4:17 NIV

At the end of group of people praying, we gathered around one of the young men who was celebrating his birthday. Several prayers of blessing were prayed. God brought to mind today’s verse that God was well pleased with Jesus and it was true of this young man.

In reality as we have become children of God we are hidden in Christ. What is true of Him has become true for us also. Paul says in Romans that we died with Him, and we are raised to walk in newness of life as He is alive.

So let me say again, as the Father spoke over Jesus, He speaks His love and pleasure over you. 

You don’t have to earn His favor, Jesus paid that price. You can’t be good enough, your thoughts about your own righteousness are still considered filthy rags in view of His holiness. You can’t disqualify yourself from being His child by your inconsistency and yoyoing of good and bad behavior. He covers your shame with a robe of righteousness. 

Why do find it so much easier to agree with the devil’s lesser view of who we are? You will never measure up! God can’t possibly love a screw up like yourself. You have so little to offer. God loves you, BUT not as much as He does his other children. If God the Father really knew what you were like, He would be justified in being upset with you. You deserve everything bad the Father lets happen to you.

Please read the verse aloud over and over several times especially replacing “You are MY child” instead of “this is my Son.” God loves you. Thank Him. Believe and receive that He truly loves you.

“with YOU, I am well pleased.” Do you believe this to be true of yourself? God, who created all things and knows all things is pleased with you. My paraphrase for this would be….God is happy when He thinks about Me and You!

So, there you have it. God’s evaluation of love, favor and pleasure over you should put an extra pep in you step today. You can make it through today, because He loves being with you. May you have ears to hear in your spirit of His love for and over you.
