if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; Romans 12:7 NIV
AVOID MEisms
One of the easiest mistakes to make when approaching the scriptures to use as a prayer guide is the narrowness of “MEisms”. This happens when we think every verse should revolve around me and my life situations. We ask questions like “How does this verse affect me? How will this verse help me? Or I don’t think this verse applies to me?”
You may be absolutely correct about the verse. SO, ask God how will the verse influence others. Or you may notice the scripture leads to honoring God and His character qualities. The key is to stop looking inward and begin to look outward and upward. There is a “world” or prayers to intercede for others.
Major side note. Don’t jump over repentance. If the verse addresses actions that you and others need to be taking, START with yourself verse. Repent, humble yourself before God, then ask for God’s mercy for others.
Unless you are a server or teacher, today’s verse works well to turn our gaze from our own navel, to pray for others. Who do you know who is a server or a teacher? Who are the faithful servants in your church who could use some encouragement? Who are the teachers who have made a major impact in your Christian journey? How might your prayers inspire them to walk inn greater freedom and anointing to use their gifts?
Prayer – Father, thank You for teaching us about serving. You said that “If you are our master and You serve us, how much more should WE serve one another. Father, thank you for all of the servers who make life work in our homes and churches. Thank you for teachers to instruct us in order to live in a way more perfect. In Jesus Name, Amen
Blessings Love y’all
