Fear Not Friday – Surety of Your Ways

Most of the Fear Not Friday blog entries talk about the promises of God to help us along the way, i.e. Do not fear for I am with thee. To be sure, we fail so often, the mercy of Jesus is the only constant to help us navigate our troubled waters. However, there is a consistent theme throughout the Bible – own your obedience – which cares a blessing free from fear. When we make God’s ways our ways we experience a different level of peace and favor.

It is wisdom to consider, ponder, make good decisions about the path your feet will take you. The imagery in the verse is about making a level path. In the context of the time, this would include a path free from harm or danger. Clear the road ahead of you to help you and those coming behind you.

There are so many steps that have a huge impact over our entire life which lead to harder  or easier paths.

  • There are decisions about how you save, spend and give your money which opens or closes doors for your later life.
  • You make decisions about the friends you spend your time with who will help you along the way or bring pain and sorrow to you.
  • You make decisions about the words which come out of your mouth which strengthens your honor and reputation or exposes your anger, dishonesty, and moral corruption.
  • You make decisions about how you spend your time which can never be redeemed – so invest wisely. How much is spent on the nothingness of entertainment?
  • You make choices to hold on to bitterness or resentment instead of forgiving and extending mercy.
  • You make decisions of order – seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you.

Let me say again, we are imperfect and only through Jesus Christ and His grace do we succeed. But there are paths that produce better results as we walk in the ways of the Lord. When we sin, ask Jesus to forgive – and He does. Then choose rightly  to once again walk in step with the Holy Spirit.

Let’s look at the totality of the verse again in reference to Fear Not Friday. Making decisions to walk in the ways of the Lord, will yield a life without fear from the consequences of poor decisions.  We will still have troubles, because we have an adversary who hates us.

Let me illustrate. If Pam asks me a question about how I spent money at Home Depot and I only tell her part of the truth. I will now carry guilt from the lie, and worry that she may find out in the future. – I am not saying I would EVER do this. But if I tell the truth when she asks, then I live with no worry. All of this because, I chose to be honest in the next step of my life. And this scenario is repeated again and again throughout our day.

Spend much time with God in the Bible understanding His ways and what He expects from us. Then yield constantly to the leading of the Holy Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. Here is the good part – You will then enjoy the fruit of the Spirit in all areas of your life, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. I could use a bowl full of that all day, every day.

On this Fear Not Friday, ponder, be intentional, plan and make wise preparations about the actions you will take today. Follow God’s path and He will make your way sure.

Blessings Love y’all
