Joshua 1:8 NIV
Success for the follower of Jesus is linked to the hearing of God’s word and obedience to that understanding.
Hearing the Word is not limited to just the sound coming into your ear ways, although that is a good place to start. Think more of hearing as valued revelation. Notice the first word in our verse -keep. Things of value are KEPT in special places. Joshua was encouraged to keep the commandments at a high value
- keep the Law of God on your lips. Children learn through repetition of words. We listen to our grandchildren recite their ABC’s again and again as they are learning. When do you recite God’s word aloud? How often do you hear yourself speaking the Word?
- Meditate on God’s word. God knew Joshua needed more than just reciting to bring the full revelation of its power into his life. Meditation brings inspection and evaluation. Inspection allows the opportunity to see the full breadth of the impact of God’s Word. Look at the many facets of its application. Evaluation let’s you measure up to the standards of the Word received. Are you truly obeying from the heart? What adjustments should you make?
Today may you be blessed to follow in the pathway of success by obedience. May you rearrange your schedule if life so that you have time for the reciting of God’s words in your lips. May you be blessed with the intentionality of choosing to meditate in God’s word.
Blessings Love Y’all
