For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV

My youngest daughter leaves today for her first international mission trip which will last one week. If you have been on a mission trip out of the country of the US, then you are aware of her prayer needs. Her team is connected with the Filter of Hope ministry, who provide buckets and filters to individuals and families for fresh drinking water. Her main request is to have an opportunity to present the good news message of Jesus clearly with a person who is ready to become a follower of Jesus.

How about you? Are you thinking that today may be the opportunity to introduce someone walking in darkness to the light that is found in Jesus? The whole Christmas season is a reminder that God gave light to the world at the birth of Jesus in the same way that God spoke light into the chaos of our world.

As a follower of Christ, you carry His light everywhere you go. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit’s anointing you are bursting forth with light revealing the love of Jesus for the world. Like Father God, light became revealed through His creative word. The salvation message is intricately linked to the spoken word…faith comes by hearing. It is a wonderful start to “let your light shine”, but faith comes by hearing another person share the good news. Let’s say it in the opposite to bring forth the clarity, “When we do not talk about the good news, people remain in darkness, period.”

May you be aware of the leading of the Holy Spirit today. The harvest is still plentiful. This means that TODAY, you will encounter someone who is needs to see the light in the face of Jesus. When Jesus ministry was finished and He was leaving the earth, He looked at his disciples and said “TAG, YOU”RE IT!” He didn’t use that exact words, but His message to them was the same. They were IT for communicating God’s love to the world. No plan B. The accomplishment of the message rested entirely upon them. Now, we are IT, and we have the same privilege and responsibility to share Jesus in our generation.
