Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 NIV
Forgetting what is behind
Is a task not easily reached
The past is past, they say
So, I’ve heard it preached
Forgiving others is hard
You don’t know what’s been done
I carry the memories afresh
Even with the battle won
Mistakes that I have made
Are the hardest to let go
Clouding my every thought
Grace for me, it’s hard to know
Most of my problems
Come from my own undoing
I know I’m not perfect
Just can’t stop the reviewing
How do I press on
To obtain that which is good
Rehearsing all the should’ve
Change my past, if I could
The cross brings me comfort
I lay my failures there
All my stupid decisions
Upon Himself, He chose to bear
Peace to my spirit
Peace to my mind
Peace to my soul
Peace I will find
Yoked with Jesus is the key
To help me face the day
Freedom is found in Him
There is no other way
Jesus help me to press on
I’m stuck on my mistakes
Grab my hand, I need You
I’m leaning on You for goodness sakes
