So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Matthew 25:25-26 NIV

I heard about an atheist who was angry with God who they didn’t believe existed. They did not like His rules or having to be under His control. Their perception of justice did not equate with their experiences of bad things happening to people. Ultimately, if they could get rid of God, then they would not have to be accountable for their own actions.

On this Fear Not Friday, don’t be afraid to Steward Your Own Gifts. The accounting has already started.

Steward – in Jesus’ parable in Matthew, each of 3 men are giving talents to steward for their master. Two used what they had and increased their talents. The 3rd man did nothing with his. The principle of accounting for stewarding God’s gifts to you is simple. Be faithful with little and He will entrust you with much. Do you know what talents and spiritual gifts that God has bestowed upon you? How are you being faithful with each of these gifts

Your Own – Own up to your responsibilities and stop comparing yourself to others. You will not be judged for how you are compared to others. Many become paralyzed by comparing themselves to others. “I am not as smart, as talented, as wealthy, as good looking, as liked, as funny, as outgoing, or as together as that person.” No you are not, but God has made you unique to be especially you. Walk in your own shoes, just don’t stand still watching others.

Gifts – You have your own natural personality and traits. When you become part of the family of God, the Spirit also gives you a spiritual gift to be used to benefit the rest of the body of Christ. In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul addresses honoring the different gifts. All are necessary for the body to function properly. You have a gift or gifts to steward.

These gifts are spiritual, which means that they flow from the Holy Spirit as their source. Faith will be necessary for the activating of these gifts. Grace is extended or should be extended toward one another for learning to use your gifts. We are expected to grow and mature with our gifts. How do you know when you are maturing with your gifting? Love will shine in all you do or say.

Jesus said we will give an account for all of our careless words and also be accountable for the gifts, money, resources that He provided to us. My wife often asks this question. If money was no object, what would you spend your life doing? What excuse do you have that is halting you from moving forward with your desires? There are creative dreams that are uniquely you to come forth in your life.

Numbering is an accounting term. The Psalmist invites us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. How are you becoming more effective with structuring your days to bear fruit with your talents?

Overcome your fear of failure. Steward Your Own Gift. Activate your faith. Be faithful with little. Love more. Live the abundant life that Jesus offers.

Blessings Love y’all
