Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Mathew 18:19-20 NIV

Blessing of Agreement

Pam and I had the privilege to hear our son Jonathan preach at his home church in Starkville, Ms, at New Horizons Christian Fellowship on the topic of Generosity. That afternoon we drove to Birmingham, Al to attend our home church, Fullness Christian Fellowship’s celebration of the end of their church-wide 21 days of prayer and fasting. We would go out to dinner afterward to celebrate Micah’s, our son, birthday.

During the Fullness service they invited people to share experiences or revelations they had during the 21 days of prayer. Several shared personal stories of answered prayer. Some talked about new hope and peace over an area of concern. And some talked of specific words God had shared.

One consistent theme was the prayer cards used during the 21 days. People had written down prayer requests on a card and left them at the church for others to pray over the requests. Each day all of the requests were prayed for by different people, who picked up the cards at the altar. The sharing of hope and peace were tied to the comfort that other people were agreeing together over the same prayer need.

The blessing of praying in agreement is a promise Jesus made to his followers. This blessing is possible, otherwise Jesus would not have made it. This blessing is obtainable, two people can come into agreement. This blessing is impartial, it is for all followers of Jesus, not just for the spiritual leaders.

This blessing will be for those in alignment with God and His ways. How do I know this? Jesus said He would be in the midst of the prayer discussion. His abiding presence comes and settles when there is unity in love, operational forgiveness, anxiousness yielding to peace, pure hearts, and a tangible pursuit of the ministry of reconciliation.

The power of this unity is the reason the enemy works so hard to keep couples divided. When a husband and wife pray in agreement together, WOW there is power. So, the devil sends tons of distractions, offenses, and disagreements to these two people. In the presence of forgiveness toward one another, this is a great time to pursue praying for your children, your finances, your health, and your ability to walk powerfully in the Holy Spirit. One flesh praying in agreement is powerful.

I know this subject needs a lot more explanation. At the same time, we try to make it more difficult or sensational than it has to be. Channel all of the excuses of how hard this could be, to a view point from a child’s perspective. Jesus told us to pray in agreement and the request will be granted by His Father. Believe and practice this promise with the faith of a child.

God loves His children coming before Him in prayer. May you be encouraged to walk in the blessing and promise of Matthew 18:19-20. I truly believe that God is wanting us to see how our prayer helps bring God’s kingdom of heaven to earth.

Have fun praying.

Blessings Love y’all
