“Worship the Lord your God and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you.

Monday Mantra – Blessing of Food and Water

My daughter did a liquid only fast during January.  After the first week, most of the rhythms of not eating have been acquired. I told her, “there will be temptations along the way, but it is not that hard to continue the fast to the end of the 21 days. The most interesting thing that will happen? You will miss the joy of eating with friends. It doesn’t matter what the food is. Eating and fellowship are a blessing God grants to us.”  Remember, Jesus promised a banquet meal for His followers at the end of the age.  That will be some party and I am glad I am invited. Did you respond to your reservation?

Worship is far more than attending Sunday services. It incorporates your deepest desires and longings. You trade your hard earned money and sacrifice time for the things that you worship most. This does not make them idols, but they can easily become one. How would you describe your intimacy of love for God by describing the use of your investment of time and money? Are you giving to missions?

God blesses your food and water.  I wonder if desserts and snacks are included in this food aisle? Seriously, one translation states, He will give you food and water. King David said I have been young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread. Matthew 6:33. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. Food, water and shelter are included in the all things. God is very serious about taking care of His children. Follow His guidance for spending and giving money to watch how He blesses His children, like you.

Sickness is part of this fallen world, so is God’s blessing of health. Some sickness is because of our personal sin -over eating or addictions. Some sickness comes from the devil – Job was in the dark of what we know happened behind the scenes. Some sickness awaits a healing encounter with the Glory of God – Jesus healing the blind man. Some sickness is part of the fallen world where sin is fighting to survive while the children of the kingdom ask for God’s rule and reign to come forth. Each of these illnesses will be addressed differently. God is sovereign over all of them.  May you walk in God’s healing today.

On this Monday Mantra, may you receive a renewed joy for the simple provision of food and water. From the beginning, the devil tempted us to believe God was holding back and we deserved more. May you have an overflow of gratefulness for all that God has already provided in your life.

May you also walk in health and life in your physical body. It is fitting to close with 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24. 23 May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. God keeps His promises to take care of your needs.

Blessings Love y’all
