The following is the text to the ladies in my immediate family, July 31, 2018
4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. I John 4:4 ESV. There is a desire for us to grow up, be mature, know how to navigate life’s challenges, be the adult that we expect we should be. YET, John calls us little children from God. Making it thru this life can be overwhelming as you make decisions about your responsibilities and relationships. YET, John tells us that you are an overcomer. It is OKAY to be in a place of need and to ask your Heavenly Father for divine help. That prayer is not immaturity, rather it is loving dependency. You will be an overcomer today because of the bigness and strength of your Father who lives in you. Praying for your physical health and endurance. Love y’all.
On this Simply Sunday, there are two points from this text which still make an impact in my life. The first is being called a child of God which reveals a continuing relationship for provision from our heavenly Father.
It is OKAY to be in a place of need and to ask your Heavenly Father for divine help. BUT who wants to be in a place of need? Yet, universally we know children need their parents to help them navigate life. Blessed is the child who does not ask “Why me?”, but responds to God with “Now what?”, believing God can navigate through the valley you are facing.
Second, John says we “have” overcome. He does not say “maybe, hopefully, perhaps one day.” Through Jesus, the victory has already been sealed and accomplished. The trial you are facing is underneath the feet of Jesus. The conflict you are experiencing will bow before His feet. The hopelessness you are feeling is consumed in His presence. Jesus makes all things new.
Take a moment to meditate on 1 John 4:4. Picture yourself on the timeline he paints for us. Become a child, respond like a child, receive the benefits of being His child, walk in the world with confidence as His child.
Blessings to you on this Simply Sunday
Blessings Love y’all
